The young oak grove that surrounds this sculptural installation is one of the few moments of breath and shelter from the blazing Lake County sun, throughout the entire park. Inspired by this feeling of safety and shelter, we created woven vessels utilizing oak branches from within the park that allow viewers an intimate opportunity to speak their thoughts, words of gratitude, ponderings etc. into the organic cone-like structures. These structures are characterized as speaking devices by their megaphone-esque shape yet differentiated by the woven and organic nature of their material.
We invite visitors on site to sit with the trees and go within. Immerse in the natural soundscape of this park and when you’re ready, speak from your heart into the woven vessel– what is something your heart seeks to say to nature?
Integral to this installation is a sound piece titled "Voices of Earth". Within you’ll hear diverse individuals responding to the prompt: What is something you would like to say to nature? Please find a quiet place to listen.
