Raíces Hermosas connects the Latinx community, both seen and hidden, to MAC and to the community at large through art, culturally focused events and art making primarily at MAC.
The project celebrates contemporary expressions of Latinx culture, roots and issues in a guest-curated exhibit of work by local and regional Latinx artists. It includes guided school field trips to the gallery and studio during the exhibit for 3,600 Lake County students. MAC will create and deliver digital and physical pre/post visit curriculum materials, and teacher training. The exhibit will be open to the public mid Jan-mid May 2024 and include videos of each artist discussing their work. A digital catalog will be available with printed editions for each school in Lake County. Catalogs will be available for purchase at the MAC Gallery. All materials will be created with English/Spanish translations. During the exhibit weekend art workshops for adults and families will be led by local Latinx artists. Community activities include completion of the Eagle & Condor ceramic mural co-created by people across Lake County, and festivals including a celebratory inauguration of the mural, and a food and fashion festival among others. |
Raíces Hermosas conecta a la comunidad latina tanto visible como oculta, a MAC y a la comunidad a través del arte, eventos centrados en la cultura y creación de arte principalmente en MAC.
