Submitting work for consideration for exhibit @ MAC:
We are seeking work having content, refined craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetic merit. All exhibits at MAC are juried. Please submit your work in any media via email for consideration by our curatorial team with application linked above, following payment for membership or one time application fee - use paypal below or send check to PO Box 1616 Middletown, CA 95461  Email photos for exhibit (about 1200 px on long side). You will hear from us within ten days of the submission deadline. 

There are two ways to submit work to MAC:
1. Become a Professional Member (see below)

2. Non-Members may submit work for consideration for an individual show: $30 for up to 3 pieces/$25 Lake County residents. $10 for each additional piece (non-refundable).


Submit work

Upon notification of acceptance, please submit  your bio  and artists statement using 12 pt Arial  font  in Word format (.docx) and a portrait photo. Work must be delivered to the gallery on the date set forth in the agreement before each show.

Please only submit work that is complete,  available for sale,  and exhibit ready.  If work is in progress, please make a note of that on your application.  Frames are preferred,  black canvas edges accepted . All work must have hanging line and be ready to hang.


As a Professional Member:  whether you are submitting for an upcoming exhibit or joining MAC between submission dates we ask that you send us portfolio samples, (following membership payment) so that we have an idea of  what your work is like. We may be inspired by your work as we design our thematic exhibition calendar. Please submit:

·       6-10 images of your current work including: titles, material, dimensions and pricing. Images should be in jpg format 1200 px on the longest side. Please attach jpg's to your email.
·       Bio + Artist Statement fit on one page in 12pt Arial font. Resume portrait photo  (of you to be included with bio), and contact information.  You can download a resume template here.

Ongoing Call for Work for MAC Art Garden
To submit sculptural work for consideration for the MAC Art Garden, use the current exhibit application and specify that you are submitting for the MAC Art Garden. All work must be appropriate for outdoor installation. 

Generally work will remain on view for  3-6 months

Please either submit work for a single show with payment of $30/$25 (Lake Co. residents) or become a Professional Member   A one-time submission fee entitles you to submit up to 3 images. $10 for each additional image.


Your Professional Membership entitles you to submit work for consideration for 8 juried thematic exhibits without cost throughout the year; Be considered for exhibition of small works, art objects or functional work; Benefit from a variety of professional perks including representation on our website and online Marketplace, have flat work in bins, receive discounts on classes, events and services such as website design; Submit proposals to teach classes or workshops; meet for feedback on your portfolio with a MAC team member (complimentary 20 minute meeting). Be a part of an exciting endeavor and outreach developments!

Middletown Art Center has opportunities for artists to participate in shows, sell work, teach classes, meet other artists, volunteer some time,  take classes or curate an exhibit.  Just starting out?  You will find professional support at MAC, just ask!

MAC is a non-profit organization made by community volunteers for community and visitors to Lake County to enjoy.  We appreciate our members support through volunteerism.   Members who volunteer 10 hours per month or more are eligible for a larger portion of the artist/gallery split.  (70/30 as opposed to 60/40 normal).  We welcome your participation in MAC!

Submit Teaching Proposals:
Is there a class you want to teach? Send us a description of the class, and a short narrative about your teaching experience.  Depending on your class and format, we may suggest a MAC weekly class or a workshop.  We are excited to offer more classes at MAC! 

MAC classes: These classes usually are comprised of a series of 3-6 weekly sessions. MAC provides materials, supplies, marketing and pays the instructor a set fee per class. All MAC classes are offrered and advertised through MAC.



Workshops are of longer duration and held once, or once a month. Generally, the instructor rents space from MAC at $20 per hour - member's rate, or $25/hour non members rate. MAC will split income up to cost of rent. The Instructor is responsible for materials and supplies and marketing. MAC will include your event on our website and What's Happening calendar, share your Facebook event on our page and assist with participants payments.  Graphics and Facebook event must be supplied by instructor. Please email or call us for additional information.

Non artists are welcome to rent space to run workshops at MAC.
